Whitepaper

Athlete Domains is a free multi-sport game you play as your own blocky athlete, and a collection of 3,000 one-of-a-kind athletes you can own. The game comes first: anyone can play, with no wallet, account or purchase.

Last updated 25 September 2026

Overview

Owning an athlete makes it yours in every game, and later in a shared town where holders live, compete and hang out.

One rule runs through this paper: we only promise what is already live. Every feature below is marked with where it stands today.

StatusMeaning
LiveBuilt, tested and playable now
BuildingBeing built now; not yet released
PlannedDesigned and committed to, not started
ExploringAn idea we are testing; may change or be dropped

Dates are left as TBD on purpose. We will publish a date when the work behind it is done, not before.

The game

The game is built and playable today: 10+ games in one app, from penalty kicks to pool, that runs in any phone or desktop browser. Nothing to download from an app store, and no wallet needed to play.

GameWhat you doStatus
Penalty KicksBeat the keeper, then keep them out.Live
Five-a-SideA short match on a small pitch.Live
Three-Point ContestFive racks, sixty seconds, one hot hand.Live
Mini GolfEighteen holes, one putter, no excuses.Live
Ten-PinHook it into the pocket and watch them go.Live
Throw ZoneSixty seconds. Runners crossing. Defenders in the way.Live
Home Run DerbySit on a fastball and put it in the seats.Live
TennisMove them side to side, then hit into the open court.Live
Goal KickingTen kicks, each one harder than the last.Live

You play as an athlete from the collection in every game. Every player gets 14 free starter athletes, one for each sport, men and women. Every other athlete is worn only by its holder: no amount of play unlocks one.

  • Coins, trophies and a daily reward are live. Coins are earned by playing (see Economy).
  • Every game has its own music, announcer and sound effects.
  • The new look is live in every sport: skies, arenas and venues drawn in code rather than downloaded.
  • Public launch: TBD. The game is open to play today, free, while it is still being built.

The collection

The collection is 3,000 athletes: 2,982 built from traits, plus 18 hand-designed Legends. Every athlete is unique. No two share the same combination of traits. Browse all of them.

PartCountHow it’s madeStatus
Athletes2,982Layered from 385 art traits, plus sport and genderLive
Legends18Original one-of-one designsPlanned
Total3,000
  • Sports: soccer, basketball, baseball, American football, tennis, golf and rugby, each with 426 athletes (213 men, 213 women).
  • Trait slots: sport, gender, skin, face, hair, shirt, bottoms, footwear and headwear.
  • Legends are original characters. They are not based on, and do not resemble, any real athlete.
  • The art is pixel art on a blocky athlete. The game builds each athlete from its trait layers, so what you see in the game is exactly what you own.

Fairness and provenance

  • Token numbers will be shuffled before the mint, so a number says nothing about an athlete’s traits or rarity.
  • A provenance hash of the final collection will be published before the mint opens. Anyone can check that nothing was swapped afterwards.
  • Rarity will be published in full, with the method used to calculate it. The method is already public: see any athlete’s page.
  • Metadata gets a short, announced fix window after the mint, then is locked permanently.

What owning an athlete does

Owning an athlete makes it yours to play as, show off and wear, starting on mint day. It gives no gameplay advantage and pays nothing: it is identity, not income.

BenefitWhat it meansStatus
Play as your athleteConnect your wallet once and your athlete appears in every game. Only its holder can wear itBuilding; live on mint day
Your athlete as everyone’s rivalYour athlete turns up as the keeper, pitcher or opponent in other players’ games, with your name on itBuilding; live on mint day
Name your athlete, and a holder badgeGive your athlete a name from our word lists; it shows with a gold frame and a holder badge wherever your athlete appearsBuilding; live on mint day
An apartmentYour athlete’s own apartment in one of the city’s towers, at a fixed address that goes with the athlete, styled to its sport and yours to decorate. A show apartment is open to visit in the game todayPlanned; show apartment open
A petA companion that follows you around the city and sleeps at your apartmentPlanned
Holder eventsScheduled competitions in the town open to holdersPlanned; prize details TBD
Your athlete on merchOrder shirts and more printed with the athlete you ownPlanned
Early accessFirst look at new cosmetics, which later open to everyonePlanned
  • Connecting a wallet never moves anything. You sign one message to prove the wallet is yours. There is no transaction and nothing leaves your wallet.
  • Your athlete stays in your wallet. We never ask you to deposit, stake or lock it.
  • If you sell your athlete, its benefits go with it to the new owner.
  • Holding pays nothing. No coins, tokens or rewards are paid for simply holding an athlete.

The world

The town is a small, drivable place where the games have real venues and holders have real homes. It is planned, not built; it comes after the mint, and it starts small on purpose so it runs smoothly on a phone.

PlaceWhat happens thereStatus

Holder apartmentsAn apartment for every athlete in the city’s towers, decorated by its owner; the 18 Legends get the penthousesPlanned; show apartment open
Grocery store and shopsDaily errands, such as picking up dinner by a set timePlanned
ArcadeCabinets with other games from the same studioExploring
  • The games stay one tap away. You never have to drive anywhere to practise; the menu always works.
  • Daily errands and goals give everyone a reason to come back, holder or not.
  • Scheduled events happen at venues in the town. Event times will account for players in different time zones.
  • Everything is drawn in code, not downloaded. The town and games load fast, even on a phone connection.
  • The town grows over time. New places are added when they are built and tested, not announced ahead.

Economy

The economy has three parts, and they are kept apart on purpose: dollars buy real things, coins are earned by playing, and athletes are owned on-chain.

PartHow you get itWhat it’s forStatus
CoinsEarned by playing games, daily rewards and goalsCosmetics, menu themes, and later home decor, pet gear and event entryLive (earn-only)

Coins

  • Coins are earned only by playing. They cannot be bought today.
  • Coins never buy an athlete. Athletes are owned, not earned; coins buy cosmetics and menu themes.
  • Coins have no cash value. They cannot be withdrawn, sold, or exchanged for money or crypto.
  • Coins are kept on our server, and every coin change is recorded there, so balances can’t be faked from a phone or browser.
  • Coins are never used for random paid packs. Nothing random that costs money can produce an athlete.

A future token

There is no Athlete Domains token, and none is for sale. A token will only be considered once the game has run with real players for a sustained period. If one ever launches, it will follow these rules:

  • A fixed supply, with the ability to create more or freeze wallets permanently switched off at launch, and the proof published.
  • Team tokens locked in on-chain vesting.
  • No presale and no private deals.
  • Launch liquidity locked or burned.
  • A plain-English paper published before launch, covering supply, allocation and risks.

The mint

The mint opens only when owning an athlete already works in the game. The details below are the plan; anything marked TBD will be published before the mint opens.

  • Where mint money goes will be published in plain words before the mint opens, and paid into the company’s business account.
  • Bot protection and the per-wallet limit apply to everyone, including the team.
  • A full rehearsal on Solana’s test network happens before the real mint.
  • No hidden reveal. The art has been public during development, so what you see is what you get.

Our commitments

These are the rules we hold ourselves to. If we ever break one, holders should hold us to it.

We will always

  • Ship a feature before we sell it. Owning an athlete works in the game on mint day.
  • Keep every athlete exclusive to its holder. Starters aside, no amount of play unlocks one.
  • Keep the game free to play, with no wallet needed.
  • Publish the provenance hash, the rarity method and where mint money goes.
  • Keep collection controls in a multi-signature wallet, not one person’s key.
  • Put the company’s name on the project. Athlete Domains LLC stands behind it.

We will never

  • Promise prices, floors, profits or returns.
  • Pay coins or tokens for simply holding an athlete.
  • Sell random paid packs that can produce an athlete or a token.
  • Ask you to deposit, stake or lock your athlete with us.
  • Mint more athletes into this collection after the 3,000.
  • Use real athletes’ names or likenesses, or imply any league or player endorses us.

The roadmap runs in order: the game, then the mint, then the town, then the holder layer. Each phase starts when the one before it is done. Dates are TBD until the work is finished.

Company and team

Athlete Domains is built by Athlete Domains LLC, a US company founded by Chris Campbell.

  • The art is fully owned. All of the collection’s art is covered by a signed copyright assignment; no outside party holds rights to it.
  • Holders get a licence to their athlete. The NFT terms, published before the mint, will say exactly what you can do with the athlete you own.
  • Contact: TBD (a public email and official social accounts will be listed here).

Risks and important notes

An athlete is a collectible and a game identity. It is not an investment, and nothing in this paper is financial, legal or tax advice.

  • Value can go down. An athlete’s resale price, if any, is set by other buyers and can fall to zero.
  • Plans can change. Anything marked Planned or Exploring may change or be dropped. Only Live features are delivered.
  • Your wallet is your responsibility. We will never ask for your seed phrase or private key. Anyone who does is not us.
  • Blockchains have their own risks, including network outages, fees and marketplace policies outside our control.
  • Laws differ by place. Some features, such as prize events, may not be available everywhere.
  • This paper will change as the project ships. The current version and its date are always at the top.
