FAQ
The short answers. The long ones are in the whitepaper.

★ Playing
Is the game free?
Yes. Every game is free to play, with no account, wallet or purchase. Nothing in the game costs real money.
What do I need to play?
A phone, tablet or computer with a modern browser. There is nothing to download from an app store. On a phone, hold it upright.
To keep it on your home screen, use your browser’s “Add to Home Screen” option. It then opens like an app.
Which games can I play?
10+ games today. The sports: Penalty Kicks, Five-a-Side, a three-point contest, Mini Golf, Ten-Pin, Throw Zone, Home Run Derby, Tennis and Goal Kicking. In the city’s arcade: 8-ball and 9-ball pool and seven retro cabinets, one of them the studio’s Bad Hair Day. See the whitepaper for what each one is.
Is my progress saved?
Yes, on our server. You play as a guest with no sign-up, and your coins, trophies, athletes, story and season are kept under your guest account.
To keep them if you change phones or clear your browser, add your email in Settings → Account, then sign in with it on any device.
★ Coins
What are coins for?
Coins are earned by playing, from daily rewards, from trophies and from beating the Legend of the week. You spend them on menu themes in the shop, and on more cosmetics as they arrive. Coins never buy an athlete.
Can I buy, sell or cash out coins?
No. Coins cannot be bought. They have no cash value and cannot be withdrawn, sold, transferred, or exchanged for money or crypto.
Are there loot boxes or random packs?
No, and there never will be paid ones. Everything has a fixed price, and nothing random that costs money can ever produce an athlete or a token.
★ The athletes
What is an athlete?
A one-of-a-kind blocky player from a collection of 3,000: 2,982 built from traits across seven sports, plus 18 hand-designed Legends still to come. Browse the collection.
Can I play as any athlete?
Every player gets 14 starter athletes for free, one for each sport, men and women. Every other athlete is worn only by the wallet that holds it. That is what owning one means: no amount of play, and no number of coins, unlocks it.
How is rarity worked out?
Each trait scores more the fewer athletes share it, and an athlete’s score is the sum over its seven art traits. Athletes are ranked within their own sport, 1 to 426, and grouped into four tiers: Elite (top 5 %), Rare (top 20 %), Uncommon (top 50 %) and Common.
The collection was drawn without weighting, so rarity is fairly flat. It is a way to browse, not a promise of value.
Are any of the athletes real people?
No. Every athlete is an original character. None is based on, or made to look like, a real athlete, and no league or team is involved.
★ Owning an athlete
When is the mint, and what will it cost?
Both are TBD. The mint opens only when owning an athlete already works in the game, and the price, date and every other detail will be published before it opens. See the mint plan.
How do I get on the allowlist?
Earn a Mint Pass by playing. It has three steps: three stars on Medium or Hard in five different games, 60 rounds played, and a seven-day login streak. Your progress shows on the home screen of the game. The pass can’t be bought.
Your progress is kept on our server, so add your email in Settings → Account to be sure it follows you. The steps may be adjusted before launch; any change will be announced in the game first.
Which blockchain?
Solana.
Do I need a wallet to play?
No, and you never will. A wallet is only for owning an athlete. Connecting one means signing a message to prove it is yours: there is no transaction and nothing leaves your wallet.
Is an athlete an investment?
No. An athlete is a collectible and a game identity. It pays nothing, gives no gameplay advantage, and its resale price, if any, is set by other buyers and can fall to zero. We will never promise prices, floors or returns.
Is there a token?
No. There is no Athlete Domains token and none is for sale. Anyone offering one is not us. A token will only be considered after the game has run with real players for a long time, under the rules in the whitepaper.
How do I stay safe?
We will never ask for your seed phrase or private key, and never ask you to send us an athlete. Anyone who does is not us. Mint news will only ever come from this site.
★ The company
Who makes Athlete Domains?
Athlete Domains LLC, a US company. The company owns all of the collection’s art under a signed copyright assignment.
