Privacy Policy
The short version: you play as a guest, with no sign-up. Your progress is kept on our server under a guest account, other players see only a made-up player name and your athlete, and an email is asked for only if you choose to keep your account. No ads, no analytics, nothing sold.

Preview version. These terms describe the game as it is today and will be reviewed before the public launch.
What we collect
The game does not ask for your name, phone number, location or age. When you first play, it makes a guest account for you: a random ID with nothing that identifies you. It is kept on our server with your game data:
| What | Why |
|---|---|
| A random guest ID | To keep your progress together; it is not linked to you |
| A player name the game makes up, such as “Swift-1234” | To show you on leaderboards and to other players |
| Coins and every change to them, the athletes and items you own, and daily rewards claimed | So your progress is kept and balances can’t be faked |
| Your rounds: the game, mode, difficulty, score and when you played | To award coins and stars fairly, rank leaderboards and spot cheating |
| Story and season progress | So you carry on where you left off |
| The link you first arrived from, if it carried our tag (for example, one of our TikTok ads) | To see which links bring new players |
Your email, only if you give it. In Settings → Account you can add an email to keep your account if you change phones. We use it only to send you sign-in links, and it is never shown to other players.
What other players see
Leaderboards show your player name and scores. In the city and in matches against other people, players in the same place see your player name, your athlete and where it moves, live, and in a race your opponent sees your score as you play. There is no chat, and nobody can type a name or a message. Where you walk and what happens in a live match, including its result, are not stored after you leave.
What is stored on your device
Your browser keeps the sign-in for your account, a copy of your progress so the game starts quickly, and your sound, graphics and motion settings. The site also keeps a copy of its own files so it loads quickly and works offline. The game does not set cookies.
Settings → Start over as a new guest clears this device and starts a new guest account. To have an account and everything stored with it deleted, write to support@appalachaistudios.com.
Who runs it for us
These companies run parts of the game on our behalf and handle data only to do that:
- Netlify serves the site and its pages.
- Supabase holds the accounts and game data, and sends the sign-in emails.
- Colyseus Cloud runs the server that connects players in the city and in matches, in the United States.
Like any web server, they receive technical details with each request, such as your IP address and browser type, and may keep them in logs for a short time for security and reliability. We do not use these logs to identify you or to track you across other sites.
No ads, no tracking, no selling
- The game shows no ads and includes no advertising or analytics code.
- We do not sell or share personal information.
- The game loads no fonts, scripts or trackers from other companies.
Children
The game is meant for players aged 13 and over and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has given us an email, write to support@appalachaistudios.com and we will delete the account.
When this changes
Features on the roadmap, such as connecting a wallet, will need some information: for example, a wallet’s public address to show the athlete it holds. We will update this policy, and say what is collected and why, before any such feature goes live.
